Poor Emma..AGAIN!!
Apart from the weather, things have been going pretty good here on the block. I have had to move inside so the kitchen renovations are progressing.
It is hard work sanding the huge floor, but, little by little I’m getting there, just a few more hideous plastic tiles to remove and then sand off all the glue and a beautiful wooden floor is revealed, then the dogs come running in from bounding wildly in the paddocks and bingo, that beautiful wooden floor I mentioned is no longer!!
So, the rain finally stopped today, and out when the hounds with their usual roar enthusiasm and down went Emma
Disappeared nearly, into one of the holes dug for exploration by the other three dogs. We, think we have really rare truffles buried under the back paddock!!
I waited and she still had trouble getting to her feet, so Donna was summoned and out we went, scooped her up and came inside to assess the damage.
Swelling to her right ankle joint, but she didn’t really mind me poking it gently. I put it in a splint and let her lie in front of the fire for a while.
We use rescue remedy and arnica drops when any of our animals have a shock, so Em has some warm milk after the usual drops.
Well by afternoon she hadn’t moved and wasn’t too keen on putting any weight on the front leg, so off to the vets we went.
A broken toe was the verdict, so, because of her semi-paralysis in her back legs, a cast was the preferred solution for the painful front one.
So, home again and in sick bay for the second time!! In four weeks the cast should come off and then we will re-assess the back legs situation. I hope it won’t set her progress back too much, she has come a long way in a short few months.
I have added another site to the blog roll, this is an organic herb and native nursery near where I live. They stock a huge range of herbs, some of the rarer varieties for meicinal purposes.
Check them out if you need any herbs…Herbs NZ
