Hi Rich, Thank You for the question, if you wait until after christmas I'll have my harvest ready for sale then I can send you some. They don't set seed as potatoes are propagated from tubers. Remind me nearer the time as I have several orders from the UK:) Would you be interested in a variety of ones or just the Urineka (Purple ones)?? I tell you once you taste them you'll NEVER go back to European potatoes they are that good:)

hello. i've only just found out about these amazing maori potatoes, i'd love to grow some! i'm in the uk though, & i suspect even if i could find someone kind enough to send me some they wouldn't make it through customs. new zealand & the uk are both pretty harsh on live plant immigration, with the uk being specially paranoid about potatoes as there are a couple of spud diseases that are fairly widespread elsewhere that we haven't got. i was wondering though, if taewa set seed? most of our european spuds are a bit inbred & don't set seed very well, & no one really notices as its so easy to save tubers. but some of them do, & i've been having great fun growing from them over the last few years, as they rarely come true to type so you tend to get all sorts of interesting new variations, which you can then keep going from tubers. also, seeds don't carry diseases, so you get a fresh start each time, & i don't think they'd be subject to border control.
so, if taewa do set seed, i wonder if theres any chance you'd be able to send me some? would be fantastic if so!
thanks

I grow Maori potatoes that I get at the Grey Lynn Farmers market (first 3 sundays in every month) or New World gourmet Maori Potatoes when they are in the shops and let them sprout - they always seem to do fine as i dont think they are treated not to sprout. Hope this helps!
